As in every city, Amsterdam also has a few areas/districts. All of these districts have a different look and feel! The city center is very old and has a lot of old, but beautiful, buildings. The eastern part of the city is very multicultural and you’ll find a lot of places to eat good food, and so on. We’ll highlight a few outdoor spots in Amsterdam west that are worth a visit!
Visit the Ten Kate market
The Ten Kate market is a market located on Ten Katestraat. The Ten Kate market is open every day of the week except on Sundays. This market sells products from local vendors. The food is fresh, quite cheap and you can see what a typical Dutch market looks like! In the street you’ll find a few restaurants where you can grab some lunch or a cup of coffee. And behind the market there are the famous Foodhallen!
De Clerqstraat for food and drinks
Up for a drink? Or do you want a proper meal? Then you should visit one of the restaurants or bars at De Clerqstraat. On this street there are a few bars and restaurants which are popular among the Dutch. Bar Hendrix has a relaxed vibe and serves you excellent wine and at Bar Spek you can order a homemade pizza. Want to visit a proper pub? Then Bar Thijs is the place to go to.
Westerpark and Sunday Market
In the Western part of Amsterdam are a few parks. The most famous and most beautiful one is the Westerpark. There are walking trails here and it has an actual cinema, there are bars and even a few companies are located here. On one Sunday every month you’ll find the Sunday Market here. Then a part of the park is stacked with small companies/sellers that sell their (home)made products. Very inspiring!
