If you’re planning a romantic weekend away for Valentine’s Day, Amsterdam is a perfect option. There are countless activities to do while you’re here for a romantic weekend. We have made a list with our recommendations for romantic activities.
A day at the zoo
Artis Royal Amsterdam Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in the Netherlands. It is located in the city center of Amsterdam, so it’s perfect for a weekend in the capital city. You can join a guided tour to learn more about the animals, or watch the jaguars being fed. Cafe De Plantage is a lovely place for dinner after a long day at the zoo, it’s located next to Artis.
Beer and boardgames
Who needs fancy dinners when you can drink beer and play boardgames? At cafe Brecht they serve great German beers and you can enjoy playing games or listening to a small concert or poetry reading. Not hip and trendy, but cosy and timelessly romantic.
Roller disco
I bet you have never done this before! Club Lite hosts a monthly roller disco, where you can bring both your cool outfit and matching moves to the dancefloor. And there’s a DJ for the happy music! Don’t worry about not having roller skates (or travelling with them), as there are rental roller skates available.
Go climbing
If you’re looking for an active date idea, go wall climbing! At Klimmuur Amsterdam Centraal you can have an introductionary lesson, during whick you will learn how to climb safely. After the introduction you can try climbing yourself. Being the belayer while your partner climbs can be very romantic.
Cheese tasting
At Reypenaer Cheese you can enjoy a real Amsterdam cheese tasting. You will taste 6 different cheeses, paired with white wine, red wine and port. You will learn how to taste different cheeses. You can combine the cheese tasting with a canal cruise afterwards.
Foodhallen
The Amsterdam Foodhallen offer various different stalls with all kinds of food and drinks. It is located in an old converted industrial building. You can try different kinds of foods, all at the same time. The vibe is always very relaxed, so it’s perfect for a lovely date with the one you love. If you and your date prefer different kinds of food, you can both have your favorites at the same time.
